The Kansas City Boys Choir and the Kansas City Girls Choir explore the power of the spoken word and music with “More Than A Song,” at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at Central United Methodist, 5144 Oak Street.
“The concert examines the influence of song, and, in turn, how we draw particular meanings from a piece of music based on our experiences and our personalities,” said Ah’Lee Robinson, choir CEO and artistic director.
The choirs will be joined by local poets, artists and speakers, who will introduce each song witha reflection on their experience with the selection and its personal meaning. Guest speakers include poet and spoken word artist Glenn North, Rev. Dr. Robert Hill, pastor emeritus of Community Christian Church, artist and writer Toni Milsap, dramatic orator Rev. Connie Jones, and spoken word artist Sherri Hall.
Concert admission is $15.
